I don't know about everyone else, but mainly I've been playing semi-hollow guitars and I would love it EB ever put one out...has there ever been one? Will there ever be one? I just adore the EB necks and feels, oh man...an EB semi-hollow with piezo...yeah, that would be heaven. What do you guys think? (Don't get me wrong, the JP Musicman is still my favorite guitar ever...)

now what about acoustic EBs just imagine:D

BP said no way!

Fender made the mistake of trying to do acoustic and electric, they're only known for their electrics.
If you want an acoustic then you buy a Taylor, Martin, or whatever.

EBMM is the master of their own niche market. Why mess with that? :)

The reason F*nd*r has failed with acoustics and the "Str*t-o-coustic" is because they suck. And I'm not a F*nd*r bashing person - I love my old strats. But I believe if Musicman set about to make acoustics or semi-hollow jazz guitars or mandolins for that matter, thay'd approach it with the same exacting, high quality standards of craftsmanship they make solid body electrics with.

It's funny - this came up last night at dinner. My 13 year old bass playing son asked me who makes the best guitars. I thought for a minute and answered: "That depends on what kind of music of what kind of sound you want." I love Martin acoustics, but they haven't made any decent electrics (that I'm aware of). For Jazz guitars - there's a couple of serious makers I could name, but you wouldn't play metal on them. But for solid body electrics the list is very small with EBMM at the top.

If you really want a hollow EBMM "style" guitar - go to OLP's website and look at the hollow body MM Acoustic/Electrics - they look like an acoustic Axis.

From what Sterling has said on this forum, I'd definitely agree that MM won't be making acoustic guitars.

But I wouldn't rule out a semi-hollowbody electric. It's just the sort of thing that might benefit tremendously from this company's innovation. They could really bring something new to the table. And with all the recent experimentation going on in SLO, who knows? ;)

If they did one, you could expect that it would be like nothing else!!! :)

I've been waiting for EBMM to come up with a set-neck guitar for ages, but excepting a couple proto's and one-off's, I haven't seen anything yet... A semi based on the Axis shape with a set Rosewood neck and maple top would be criminally cool!

I think that was a model of the wolffang????

When I saw Van Halen supporting Bon Jovi at Wembley Stadium, this was in the EBMM days. He was playing a semi hollow EVH type axe for 'I cant stop lovin' you' I remember it had Ovation style holes where the selector switch would be on a Les Paul.

I am sure I did not dream this!

Can anyone confirm?!

While we are dreaming put me down for a carved topped hollow bodied Axis with a wrap around bridge and a rosewood neck.

I'll get one too mate! ;)

Seriously, an Axis SS with some kind of sound chambers (F holes?), selected tone woods and specially voiced pickups (+piezo) would be superb IMHO.

And it would be the lightest weighting electric guitar in the universe. :)

I dunno.. I would hope that if MusicMan were going to all the trouble of tooling up for a semi-hollowbody, they'd introduce a whole new guitar instead of working from an existing model. Give 'em a chance to show off, too! :) :)

I kinda hope that EB DOES NOT make a simi-hollow, it would make my guitar purchases much more difficult.

I've purchased two EB's recently, a Steve Morse and a AL because my other favorite guitar manufacture (Hamer) doesn't make anything like them anymore.

My previous two guitar purchases prior to EB's have been a Hamer Duotone and a Newport. I like the Hamers for the vintage Seymour Duncan tone and a sound that EB doesn't come close to in a hollow body. The same can be said for the EB's, that great DiMarzio tone on the Morse or Seymour Duncan tones on a solidbody Al. I love 'em all for the quality and unique tone they produce, each guitar is unique in it's own way.

If EB made something similar to a Hamer or if Hamer made something like a EB, I'd be broke for the rest of my life.. Finally found guitars I'm happy with and would hate to have to rethink my purchases :)

I don't know about that guitar but everything I've seen of that song being played live, was an EBMM during the early months of that tour. However, the guitar in question had two outputs, and was a hardtail. Otherwise, an EVH. I always wondered about the two outputs. Piezo, or stereo outs, what? It was an EBMM though for sure.

Later, he used a variety of guitars for that song... usually a P**vey. There was a hollowbody one of those made for him if I recall correctly.
