Serial number check on a used Sting Ray 4

There's a used Sting Ray 4 that my friend found for sale here in Croatia and I'm not 100% sure it's genuine.
The owner says the model is Sting Ray 4 EX (Ernie Ball Japan). I've never heard of the EX model and as far as I know, Ernie Ball never made their guitars in Japan (I might be wrong though).
It's white with a black pickguard and maple neck, the serial number is E27097.

Can someone from the CS please confirm if it's genuine?

After a quick search here, lit looks like it's a SR4 from around 2003. I wasn't aware of it myself, but it looks like EBMM actually made some basses in Japan.
