can anyone tell me what year it is and how the serials go (so I know when I buy another).

PeterC, see Tony's post above. The serial numbers definitely are pretty random. The only thing is - if it is a very high number (for instance, right now we are almost to G40000) you can be almost certain that it is not an older instrument. However, the reverse is NOT true - even "lower" numbers can be made pretty recently. "Nuff said! Except - your Axis was completed on June 19 2002 and shipped to the UK.

Could anybody tell me the year AND colour of origin for 81926! It's a fader kinda light purple but not sure if it was purple or red or what!

wah, yes, this is the original EVH Trans Purple, prone to change over the years. Completed 8/3/92 and shipped to the original Manny's Music in New York.

Don't know what color it is now, but when it left the factory on 1/11/92 it was Trans Red. The finishes were hand-stained back then and tend to "fade" a bit over the years.
