Hi 5Stringer,

Yes, #81689 clear as can be. I have it here on my lap as I'm typing this. I purchased it at Russo Music in Hamilton, NJ in the early 90's. Not sure about the exact year but I may have the purchase invoice around here somewhere. Hope you can turn up some information on it.

I will try .. but, no luck so far. This is very unusual not to be able to find something in our database. We may have to go digging for the original invoice if it still exists .. this is going to be challenging.

Dan,

I was able to find my original purchase receipt which is dated 12/5/92, if that information is of any use to you. The serial number 81689 is on the receipt.

Of course this poses the question: Are there any more "Early Production Mystery EVHs" out there?

Stay tuned, ya'll.

Daarkon,

Thanks for that information. I have our IT folks looking into that. This is the only time I have seen a serial number not appear in our database from a guitar that was produced. I am sure this a rare case and I am not thinking this is a widespread problem. I will let you know when I find out.

Well hey if it's ok I have 2 Van Halen's #87071 and # 88045 if you would'nt mind telling me when they were made. Thanks.. Dave

Fretburner, it's no trouble at all. Here is the info:

#87071 is an EVH trans red, was completed 4/5/95, and originally shipped to France.

#88045 is an EVH sunburst, completed 9/19/95 (the last month and year of production) and was originally sent to a dealer in Hawaii.

Good stuff -

;)

Is there a serial number? (It would be on the neck plate).

I can tell that it is a Silhouette stop-tailpiece in Rolls Burgundy finish, rosewood neck with a natural headstock and a white pearloid pickguard.
