If you take the neck off, there is usually a date written in the neck pocket which will give you the year.

so, after 15 years I'm finally recording my EVH's serial number....and about 2.5 years w/ my Axis SS. I'd love to know the dates these things shipped, and perhaps even where they were shipped if you have that info.
