Hi all

Just new to the site . I am a "former" Strat user .. maple fretboards rule ! ..lol I bought a used Silhouette a few weeks ago ..looking for something comfortable with volume knob not so close to the pickups . I always had to take off the knobs on the strats cuz I kept turning'em down while playing . I picked up the Sillouette , and that was it .. sold !! The Strats are gone ..sold .. done .. toast . I Just picked up a new Axis SS today as well .. I'm hooked ! These things rule !!! Awesome working machines .
My Serial numbers are ... Sillhouette ... 96139
ASS ....... G34489

Funny thing ... I've always been an Ass man . :D

Alright friends, Dan is on his way back from Hawaii so I'll be able to help you out:

Tony EVH: Your guitar was originally sent to Reliable Music in Charlotte NC. If the pickups are MM90's they are original. If they are humbuckers they are probably replacements.

Guiguitrucci & wildnot: G15838 brings up a fully loaded JP6 in Mystic Dream finished on 7/13/01.

dlareg: Your guitar was finished on 1/17/01. It sports a discontinued color, Black Sparkle.

yaotzin1975: Your guitar was finished on 8/10/06.

Bluplirst: Your guitar was finished on 07/07/95. It's a Trans Gold EVH.

wagnerite: I've got a date of 10/05/07 on your JP. No piezo... interesting...

BigTony: "Sexy Pants"... heh heh...The stork dropped your new baby off at the factory on 3/3/05

TorontoKnight: Welcome to the addiction! The Silhouette was finished on 1/26/05 and the SuperSport was finished on 1/19/07

This concludes today's episode of "What's My Music Man Serial Number?!?!"
Your regular host Dan will return tomorrow. Good morning, good evening and good night, where ever you are!

Thanks for the info, and thanks for hooking me up with a replacement trem arm and new saddles.

I might be calling to get replacement pickups for the replacements.

G04438 - 12/7/98 Axis Sport

I know the DOB. I was curious about any other info you might have on this one. Where it was shipped to??? Original setup??? Most importantly, are the black pickups the originals????

Tony, in the Sport we used black-only pickups, but they were exactly the same as the originals. . The neck pickup would have "N1" stamped on the back and the bridge "B1" stamped on its back. It was originally shipped to long-defunct Reliable Music in Charlotte, NC. It came setup with RPS-9's - same as the Axis SuperSport today.

Best,

Dan

thanks 5stringer!
Can you tell me how can I get a musicman bridge from EVH guitar? The one I got is already used up, so right now I had to block it, but I wish I could use it again. Unfortunately there is a bit loose, so even the intonation is a little worse, besides the pins are loose, so I'd love to get cempletely new one.
Thanks, Tom

Call or email customer service. They can hook you up with a new one.

Sorry for the hijack here, didn't some of the early Sports have the two-tone H/B's?

Mine's a '97 with them.....

Jimmyb, this is correct. The earlier sport models did have the cream/black pickups. When we did away with the pickguard we changed over to the all black humbuckers.

Jimmy - good observation! See all the things we learn here, class?

Yes, they did. They were originally available in HSS, SSS, and HH combinations. That is when they all had pickguards, as well. One thing led to another. When we decided, in mid-1998 or so, to do away with the SSS and HSS configurations and just offer the Sport in HH, we also decided to do away with the pickguards. When we did that, we decided that it looked funny with the zebra-striped pickups, so we changed them to black/black.

And there you have it ....

Tony, I think that the earlier model '97 and '98 were either HH, HSS or SSS. (with the pickguard)

I think the switch (no pickguard) that Dan is talking about marked the point when the MM90's were introduced as an option.

My guess (and bear in mind that this is only info that I've remembered from past post etc on here, so could be wrong) is that your Sport is a pre- '98 model that originally shipped with Humbuckers.

Addition:
Hopefully someone who isn't as stupid as me will be able to give you the proper details.
