Hi Dan,

I just got a new babe to go with the Silo club:

ASS MM90 Trans Gold: G35202

Have you got a DOB for me & if available perhaps some additional info?

I'm REALLY excited about this cutie - she's my first brand spankin' new Ball!!! :D

Thank you so much in advance and summer greetings from Bavaria to all of you @ CS

Axel

Axel, very nice! Smoother sailing for this one, I am certain ... this one was completed on 12/13/06 and was originally shipped to our German distributor. No surprises here!

Hi Dan,

I picked up a Silo Special, #96326. Could you provide me the DOB and some other info? Its a really weird bird as the headstock only has "Silhouette" printed on it and what looks to be a Wilkinson type bridge. I'm wondering if its some type of mongrel. Thanks for any info.

Just bought a Silhouette Special HSS hardtail in Vintage Sunburst, could I get a DOB please? Serial is G30589.

This is my first Music Man by the way. Great guitar!

Marco, congratulations on your new Silhouette and welcome! This beauty was completed on 3/21/07.

Nice!

I'm jumping on the DOB bandwagon (a smoother ride than the turnip truck I'm told) JP7-F14566

INMT, it's a good bandwagon to be on! Your delectable fully-loaded 7-string John Petrucci didn't just fall off of a turnip truck - it left the factory on 11/16/06. ;)

Hey, James, bet it's a sweet geetar! The production date is 5/05/95. That would make this one of the first Silhouette Specials to be made ... nice, and Pearl Purple is a cool color. Yes, the first Specials off the line for some reason did not have the name "Special" on them. Guess they were special of their own accord. In the effort to give it a vintage feel, and to make it different from the standard Silhouette, we used Wilkinson tremolos and Grover locking tuners to go along with the other differences: 22-fret neck (as opposed to 24), only HSS and SSS pickup configurations, the Silent Circuit, and custom-wound vintage-style DiMarzio pickups different than those used on the Silhouette.

Through the years, the differences decreased. After introducing a standard bridge option in 1996, in 1997 we switched to our current Music Man in-house tremolo system and Schaller locking tuners for both the Silhouette and the Silhouette Special. The PAF Pro, then later (and currently) Virtual PAF humbuckers were used in both guitars as well.

This didn't start out to be a history lesson, but I guess it has turned out to be one. Sorry to be so long-winded.:p

Thanks so much, Dan! That's really cool info on my guitar and I appreciate it greatly :)... as soon as I get my camera working I'll post some picks. Overall the guitar is in pretty good condition and sounds sweet, but the bridge is in need of some help. Thanks again!

James

ps... I just realized my guitar's b-day is 2 days after mine... cool!

Silhouette - 90591

Natural finish, three single coils.

Could you tell me the DOB? I think it was purchased in 1989 or 1990 at Corner Music in Nashville.

It's been a long time, but I'm glad I didn't sell it.

Muchas garcias, Dan !
Yeah, it's sort of a quite different feeling obtaining a new Ball without ANY kind of trouble for me :D I better stick to that way in the future... ;)

Thanks for the info.
That thing must have been hiding from Pete (DuBaldo) because I just bought it last week LOL.
