DannyB, this Albert was built on 9/09/08. Yours? Or yours soon?

Dan

Thanks Dan, yes I own it....managed to purchase it over the summer and its beautiful!
I understood it was from 1993, just wasn't sure of the exact date.
Funny, this one was built two years earlier (to the day) than a blue EVH I already owned...I'm looking to sell that one sometime soon.
Take care!
J

Hi
I would like to know something more about Silhouette G12389. I am going to buy this guitar. Could you help me?

Michal

Michal, Welcome to the Forum, interesting find! This Silhouette HSH with tremolo in Metal Flake Brown was built on 11/15/00 and was shipped to Royal Music Center in Brooklyn. It has a solid maple neck and was shipped with a white pickguard

MFB was, to say the least, not a very popular color, didn't last too long.

JM, here's what I found:

92998 - This one does not show up in our database. What is it?

88057 - This comes up as a Trans BLue EVH, built on 9/15/95.

Dan

thank you! It's supposed to be a 1988 silo made for Keith Richards, it's on eBay right now. It looks legit tho. My mom is a huge RS fan!

Dudley's two cents...

Hey Everybody,

Don Smith is a great guy that was the recording engineer on Keith Richards X-Pensive Whinos Main Offender album, and I also had the priveledge of seeing him at work on The Rolling Stones' Voodoo Lounge recording sessions. These were great times in my life, and part of the reason I was there was to work on some of Keith's guitars and deliver some new ones.

All the pieces of the puzzle regarding the serial number on the neck plate indicate this is one of the guitars we made for Keith and he gave to Don. THE CORRECT SERIAL NUMBER FOR THE NECK PLATE IS 92298.

HOWEVER, the serial number on the neck does not have anything to do with EVH. Perhaps Don misunderstood me in the conversation we had, as I told him that the serial numbers beginning with 8 in our computer files indicate this number as an EVH guitar because the EVH series all begin with a number 8.

The first few years of EB/MM guitar production, we put the serial number on the back of the headstock, with the first 2 digits indicating the year of manufacture. So this neck is a 1988 neck (which just happens to have the same serial number as some EVH out there) and the body is a 1992 as indicated by the number on the neck plate. Ironically, the numbers 92 in the neck plate serial number DO NOT themselves indicate this as a 1992, as we discontinued this scheme, but coincidentally it is a '92.

We made numerous Silhouettes for Keith and Ron Wood back in those days, and my guess is that the neck was perhaps swapped with the neck on another guitar. Maybe Keith loved this neck, but it was on a white body or...? But that is only a guess.

In any case, the pedigree of this guitar seems to be that it was one of Keith's personal guitars, and was signed by him and given to Don.

Cheers, Dudley
