Hey dudes, after ages of playing my hollowbody with 10s on it, my ogre like hands threaten to rip the 9s straight off my beloved JP. What do I have to do to set it up with 10s and what tools do I need?

Also, I have a DiMarzio cliplock strap on the JP that, even at it's highest setting doesn't put the guitar nearly as high as I want it. Not cool! Can you guys recommend me any straps that I can hitch up Beatle-icly high?

Stuff needed:

New pack of 10s
Phillips head screwdriver
something to adjust truss rod wheel (small screwdriver, etc)
allen wrench for bridge saddles

Remove old strings.
Replace strings
tune to pitch
Your bridge will be sunk into the body due to increases string tension
remove backplate and loosen screws of trem claw to get bridge level again
retune guitar
repeat last steps (trem claw adjust and retune) until bridge is level and guitar is in tune.
Check for neck relief - adjust truss rod accordingly
retune
Check action - adjust at bridge saddles
retune
check intonation
retune
and finally,
RAWK!

By touching any one of these adjustments, you may throw something out of whack. Keep at it.

You will need a #1 phillips for the trem plate screws, a #3 phillips for the trem spring claw, and a 3mm hardened steel allen wrench for the truss rod. Then go to here and follow the instructions:

As far as the cliplock not being high enough, you must be a really small person for it not to be high enough. I'm not sure of any strap that will be much shorter...

Wouldn't it be I have to be really tall for it to be too short? I sit at 5'10 and the clip lock synched all the way up sits a little over my hip bone...not happy...

I thought you were talking about it being too long. My mistake I guess. I'm 6'1" and have mine set pretty high. The guitar sits so the forearm scoop is at the perfect position. There's room to spare also.
