Assuming it's come direct from the factory to you without someone at this end messing with it, my guess is that a setup would not be needed (given that our man Jon does the setups personally at the factory). Of course, depending on your playing style, preferences and choice of string type and gauge, you might need to tinker with the action to suit. If you're confident enough doing this yourself, it's an easy job, otherwise I'd recommend someone like Fretco or Daz Griffin since you're in Adelaide.

Mark, Jon only does that for Really Famous People, usually. Sometimes he'll do it for one of us, too, but you usually have to slip him something under the table.

Like fried shrimp, or perhaps a particularly nice set of Mardi Gras beads.

Correct me if I'm wrong, O Hypo-Chihuahua Dude.

But right or wrong, and I'm generally right here (and generally wrong at home), unless your instrument experiences severe changed in temp or humidity along the way, it should be fine.

Nothing wrong with learning to do your own setups, though!

Actually, I don't do production set ups. We have a great set up dept. and I am sure your bass will be set up nicely, and if you had to do any adjustments at all, they would probably be minor ones.

Now when you say "as usual", does that mean that I usually owe people shrimp?

I try to keep track of this stuff, but my addiction to the History Channel wreaks havoc with my record-keeping.

... meaning you are right as usual. But if you want to send some shrimp that would be fine. ;)
