Hi everybody.
I want to give a little increase to my Bongo's neck relief, since I feel that the strings are at the right height (I bought a steel ruler for measuring that) but still getting too much buzz for my taste, specially when I pluck the E string with my thumb (old-style thumb plucking). I don't know why happens that specifically. I mean, if I pluck the E string with my normal fingerstyle (index, middle), it's OK, but plucking it with my thumb produces a really annoying buzz, which seems to come from the bridge, BTW.
I appreciate any advice on this. Maybe the problem isn't about turning the truss rod, but anyway I have a question about that: I perfectly know how the truss rod works when it's adjusted from the headstock. Turning it clockwise tightens it and counterclockwise loosens it. But my Bongo is the first bass I own in which the truss rod is adjusted from the neck joint, so I want to make sure how should I understand this (I'm confused): Of course it works the same (clockwise tightens, counterclockwise loosens), but the way I look to the bass (according to the pictures) changes my perspective of how should I turn the truss rod. If I want to loose it, for instance, how should I turn it for each case? No matter if it sound too obvious, please be the more specific as you can. I just want to have this perfectly clear.
Thank you very much in advance.
