I don't know why, but the pickup on the 'Ray that I just got is the first one that I've had that has sharp edges on the pole pieces. I know this has been discussed here before, but I couldn't find it in a search and was wondering what the best solution is. Can I file the edges without harming the pickup?

brad (bdgotoh), i think it was him, who turned me onto the card stock cutout, it's a spacer that goes between the pickup and the cover, it doesn't bevel the edges (like a modern ray), but it makes it a little less significant.

maybe?

I agree, perhaps some kinda spacer under the pup cover the lower the profile of the poles.

Mine are the same, but after a while they didn't bother me. Toughens the fingers up for those long gigs!

I wouldn't have thought it was possible to file the poles without getting a lot of filings into the coils. Which is a very bad thing, IIRC.

Funny thing is that I'm FEELING THOSE POLES today.

Rehearsed last night and dug in for longer than usual. Just typing is hurting!
