Dear Forumites,

I have a guitar(a brand new BFR Luke), I bought in Western Europe, the weather here in middle Europe is around -10 Celsius (10 Fahrenheit) degrees. (at night , is about -18 C= -4 Fahrenheit).
Since it takes about 2-3 days for the shipping companies to deliver the guitar, it will rest/stay in storages and in the means of transportaion for that amount of time.
The guitar comes with original EB hardshell case.

Would these conditions damage the guitar in any way? (finish/ wood crack, serious tension on the neck/ electronics, etc....)

Do you think that I should delay the shipping of the guitar, hoping that the weather will be more moderate in the next week?

Any help would be appreciated,

jcm

It should be ok !! I have had a few delivered from the USA, where it has been a lot warmer than what it is over here in Scotland. Just remember to tell the seller to leave the strings on ! .

Well I've gotten stress cracks from shipping in the cold across the US before, this is about the only concern I've had. I tend to try to ship in the super cold weather.

Good lukc, your gonna love the Luke man. Glenn |B)

Shipping

I've had several guitars shipped from the US to the UK and there's never been a problem. I did look into this issue and there seems to be quite a bit of conflicting advice as to slackening the string V keeping the tension correct. It appears that keeping the tension correct seemed to be the freferred option. Also bear in mind that it is possible for the Aircraft hold to be very cold as well.
All my guitars were cased and boxed well.
I can only say that EB will have the best idea as they are obviously shipping numerous guitars to far away places every day
cheers:)

I ship mine with the strings at normal pitch/tuning. Between the case, and the box, and maybe a little buble wrap at the top and bottom, they've all shipped with no problems.

Even the ones I've bought come like that. Not only are they in great condition with no damage, but they're still in tune most of the time.

Thank you guys for the informations.

I'll let the guitar in its case for some times for sure. hey, not playing it in the few hours will be a tough time for me, like I would be in a strip club only watching the girls....haha :p
