Hey guys,

I have been filming for a few weeks and made a documentary about Rowland (The autistic teenager I look after) and the flaws in the care system.

It's only 3:30 so not long. I will do a long edit at some point including other points of interest, but as an assessed piece this had to only focus on one point. This is my first film since being on the course, and it already looks like one of the better ones...heheheh. Youtube sh!tted up the quality a bit but you'll see for yourselves.

Thanks guys!

Music is from Dan Hussey, Rowland's other carer at the beginning, He is a lovely man - and that translates perfectly in his songs!

My 16 year old son has autism, fortunately, he's pretty high functioning. 18 is looming for us too, and although different in the US, we still have to prepare. He's a great kid, really obedient, and I am so glad he's in our lives.

Thanks guys ...will let you know when I've done the longer version. It may be a while because I have some other projects to do but it will happen!

I don't understand ...I have to put his socks on for him ...he can't and doesn't 'perform' at all.

The flow of images and impressions during the film (which is very well done, BTW) may suggest that Rowland plays music. There's instruments all over the whole video and he's holding a guitar in two scenes AFAIR. I have to admit that as a non native English speaker, I didn't understand all of what his father explained. But my feeling from whatching the film was that Rowland finds relief through music.

Although he is a great laugh!

Oh. I misunderstood then. There were a few scenes depicting him with a guitar and so I thought that he played it.

It's true, he is extremely musical ...he loves all kinds of music and finds it comforting to make sound with anything he can ...all will become clear in the long edit!
