Should I sell.......

Tim,
I really think it's one of three things.

Do you want to keep it for investment?
Do you want to keep it to "show" it, i.e. hang/display?

If neither of these, then SELL it.

The Ovation I recently bought is sooooooo beautiful my missus wants me to display/hang it. It is custom flame painted and sigend, one of less than 15 that were hand done.
But, I bought it as an acoustic guitar, To Play!
Am I attached? Yes, it's gorgeous and rare with history.
Am I so attached I will not touch it? Nope, cannot afford another acoustic anyway.
Would I sell it? If the price was right, YEP!

I say ask yourself what you would do with it if keeping it. Invest (under bed then ok), if not then Display? If neither (and NOT play it) then WHY keep it?

I had the same dilema when I decided that I wanted a new guitar.
Sell the Les Paul (been with me since '73) to buy an Albert?

I got together all my junk and sold it on e bay (one mans junk is one mans treasure etc). Raised loads of "dosh".
Saved hard, and didn't rush into it.
Finally I got the AL and kept the LP.
I'm sure glad that I didn't sell the LP.
Just wait - you got "good balls" to keep you occupied.

I had to check the spelling too! A lot of the Welsh words sound like your clearing the back of your throat lol
The Bwlch is just up the road from where I live- Cardiff.
Really nice place to be on a summers day - but bleak at the mo.

Seems like a great plan to me!

Footnote: My claim to fame (small) is that I went to the same school as Brian May (in Hampton) although not at the same time. Apparently his big haired son is also there now.

Never thought of Abergavenny as posh lol.
Seem's ALL UK houses are bloody expensive (ooh and I'm moving back!!!!!!!! grrr).
My Dad was born/brought up on the side of the Sugarloaf Mountain, amazing drive to get to it. Natural mountain spring in the garden and all.
And my Mum was from Abergavenny, her dad was Cheif of Police there.
Oh, and my Dad went to school with Tom Jones LOL.

Yeah I went when they played the Rugby World cup there - amazing seeing 75,000 under a roof! I know it's common in the US but the WRU took a massive step in building the stadium. It's great for gigs too!
I'm more of a soccer man but I've gone off that now you got "pansys"playing who fall over when you breathe on them!!

Oh yeah "Aber" is THE PLACE as outlinned in the Times Colour supplement.
My mate wants to sell his gaff - half a mill and it's yours.

Tim, if you order a rosewood axis lemme know how it goes, and where from, etc. I'm going to buy one later on in the year (september time) and any info. on where to pick one up would be hugely appreciated. I'm a student just waiting on my September chunk of my student loan to kick in so I can afford the axis..

Well....

Thanks for all your input on this one. I have made the decision to keep it. Whilst I would play a Rosewood ASS far in excess of my Guild, I could buy a Rosewood ASS any day of the week, whilst I would struggle to replace my own May with all its extra bits and pieces that I have had done to it. I think as suggested I would just regret it so much a few years down the line.

That said, I WILL buy a Rosewood ASS! Just take me a bit longer to save up! Mind you, I am California bound in June and if I see one, I might be tempted!

I can beat that! The drummer in my first ever band Utopia, his ex-girlfriends brother stole Jimmy May's (Brian's Son) Game boy game! I truely have been touched with fame!
