I'm playing a outdoor festival next Saturday. We play first, then my bass will be outside in its case all day. I'm nervous about it being in the heat 5 hours. Should I take a cheap bass instead?

Don't deny the bass her moment. Bring a gig bag so you can sling it with you after your turn.

Just keep her in the case, but has to be in the shade! I'm in the UK though so really really hot days are very rare!

I have taken a 25 years old double bass across 12 weeks in different climates and most venues were in the open under sun wind and sometimes rain, this thing is still in one piece despite the only protection of a large thick canvas bag

Ok looks like I'll give it a go. I was a little leary, I didnt want to ruin a expensive bass.

Keep it out of the sun and don't let it out of your sight. A day of keeping an eye on your baby is much better that the one-in-a-thousand chance of it growing legs.
