Should I use The My new Stingray?

This might sound weird but I just bought a new Stingray (factory ordered) the way I wanted it. I am a little nervous gigging with it in case something happens to it. I always use my Warmoth but my guitarist in the band says bring it out and use it. That is what it is made for. He has Les Paul and a Tele that he has gigged with forever.
It would take awhile for me to save up and buy another Stingray if I needed.
Does anyone else have this nervous problem like I do.
Just wondering.

Yeah, I feel a bit nervous, too...

... as I have my first gig with the SR coming up this Sunday afternoon at the local VA. It is a Veteran's Appreciation Day event. Should I use a soft gig bag? Take the hard case and secret it away during each break? Argh!

Despite nerves, I'm taking it (nothing sounds like the SR and our lead/guitarist even commented on how awesome it sounds!).

It's built like a tank...gig with it. Just be careful around mic stands and drum kits and don't leave it where someone might decide to walk off with it.

I got thin, clear, static-cling vinyl (bought on auction site) and covered the entire back, sides , even the sides of horns with it. Also on front where i rest my arm/hand. Tail piece of bridge has it on, just can't get it to stick on sides of headstock since it is non-glossy. this stuff sticks to any glossy surface. I did not do the front, that is what the pickguard is for. It is safe to never remove it. And i play it this way and no one notices. Not a scratch on it, it only protects against scratching, not violent hits like a cymbal stand, but this stuff helps. It also makes your guitar safe enough to throw in a gig bag and go anywhere with it, never fearing of scratches. Also, when your stock pickguard plastic protector stuff comes off, put your cling on your pickguard. 15 years down the road, if you are careful, you may have a near mint instrument if you ever had to part with it.

GIG IT! It's a bass guitar and is meant to be played. If you are a player, play it! If you are a collector, hang it on a wall in your parlor room.

When I first got my 20th Silhouette, I felt the same way. Ooooh, it's a limited run, I don't want to damage it. After a few months of this, I started bringing it to rehearsals and a few gigs..... I developed even more love for it!

Wow. Seems a bit excessive, but if it makes you rest easier, then go for it.

I’m about as picky over my gear as anyone you’ll ever meet. I won’t wear button shirts or belts when I play my basses. I’m very watchful of everyone on stage; I never put my bass on a stand during breaks. But I play them!

If you’re that worried about your bass put it in a showcase and buy another one off eBay that already has a few nicks and flaws and play the hell out of it. I’m concerned about this cling wrap stuff harming your finish.

Actually, now that you mention it, I can't remember any photo of you where you're wearing a button shirt or a belt!

PS. Belts work ok with the buckle on your hip rather than in front, if you're worried about buckle rash.

. Well they say it could hurt a nitro finish, not a polyester or polyurethane. Yes it was a bit excessive but I made my wife mad at me since i put it on credit, with money I don't have. I am paying 75 bucks a month till i get it paid off. I will prolly take off the seran wrap when i get it more paid off and it is really mine, right now it feels like it is the credit company's....
