This is what I am currently playing my Axis through; this amp was made for this guitar.

Thats the kind of rig that just looks like it was built for rock n roll, I bet it sounds killer.

Was just playing my Sub 1 modded with an authentic real Silhouette Special loaded pickguard straight into my handwired 65 Deluxe Reverb and I am totally blown away by the Silo Spec circuit. Wow! such clean and bluesy sound. But I have to tell ya.... alot has to do with the reproduction vintage circuitry in the 65DR clone. I've had it in the closet and have been playing the little Champs and I should be taken out and shot. Sure, Champs are great little amps but they ain't no Deluxe Reverb. Thought I'd take a minute to show you the amp... hand assembled with a brand new chassis that is exactly like the originals in all respects. I used pretty good components too. Original cloth push-back wire....Allen trannys, JJ's..etc.. Installed in a real F****r 65 DR reissue cabinet.

You can go buy a re-issue or a vintage original, but it wouldn't be like this one...

(I built this amp in late 2007)

Wow! Hand wired??? That's gotta be awesome!

Well, I don't know what other term would be appropriate. I wired it up with my hands. :) It sounds fantastic, and complements blues/jazz playing styles. If you look in the pics, there is an empty hole in the back panel where a ground switch would be. Since ground switches aren't really necessary I'm going to add a mid pot and chicken head knob. Did this to the last one I built and it was very useful. With the chicken head knob you can feel the position of the knob. Going to tone the reverb down a bit too, by changing some component values and using a linear reverb pot. The present reverb is pretty much Dick Dale strength and beyond when turned up 6-10.

Any other amp builders on this forum?

OK, my Diezel with Marshall & Hiwatt cabs still really turns me on, but lately I got really hot for Marshall amps.

Lemme tell ya - TOTALLY OVERRATED. I tried one out and it sounded sheety as a funk:

I agree on most of the newer Marshalls; no output, all preamp. The MV series sound pretty good if you rebias and put good tubes in them.

They don't compare to amps like the Diezel though; I had an Einstein that I loved, and then a Herbert, which was a little too sterile for me. I'd get another Einstein in a heartbeat though.

I just bought this new all tube Fender Blues Junior NOS 15W amp today. It's almost amazing how loud this amp is for being only 15 watts R.M.S. I just play for fun these days and this amp has more power than I'll ever need.
It replaces the SS amps I was using previously - as can be seen in post 289 on pg 20.

I love the Blues Jr. In my opinion, it's the best tube amp out there for the money. Sweet tones and quiet enough to play at home. Always wanted one with blonde tolex.

I was going to order a kit and assemble/build it myself but at the last moment found this company. ( www.frenzeltubeamps .) I ended up ordering his amp instead. It's a hand wired Fender 5F8 Twin and the Marshall SLP Plexi in one, he calls it the Twin-Plexi. Sounds awesome and his workmanship is top notch.

I posted it earlier in the thread but here it is again :D
