I was so excited to get here before Foggy posted pics of my basses. Of course, it figures that I don't have any full shots online and can only tempt you with promises of what is to come.

I'm leaving work at noon today, so I'll make sure I take some outdoor shots of the full Bongo when I get home with the Tort guard.

Until then, here are a couple of teasers:

No more!? You mean they won't make Bongos in white, or that they're just rare?

In the beginning Bongos could be ordered in white, but (from what I heard) due to color matching problems between body and neck the color was discontinued.
If you find one you are a lucky sob.

Bongos are no longer offered in white. When I ordered my original white Bongo, there was a mixup and it was built as a fretted. When they rushed the replacement (because Ernie Ball/Music Man rocks that hard), Scott wasn't happy with the way the neck paint matched the body paint (the neck was a lot more snow white as opposed to the creamy marshmallow white of the body) and had them remix (and remix and remix) the color batch. After they got it matched, they vowed "NEVER AGAIN!"

So, yeah--no more white Bongos. And, if you find one in a store, there's a chance the neck color won't be a great match for the body paint.

This is one of the reasons I won't be doing to my fretless what I did to my fretted (removing the paint from the neck and applying a gunstock oil finish). After the work that went into getting the match perfect, I'd feel like a right awful tool to remove it now. :D

That white fretted Bongo Monkee is talking about was at the Marietta Georgia
Guitar Center, It still is as far as I know.

Yeah, they have those listed. They also have the Desert Gold 5H that Travis bought two years...and sold to Jack...who sold it to Brad...Am I missing anyone?:D

Take the pictured stock with a grain of salt is what I'm sayin'.

Bass Central told me clear back when I was looking for a bongo that they had no white ones and the ones on the page were no longer with them.

I had a line on a white Bongo 5 HH some where will have to go back through my emails and see if I can find it.

Well, I'm sure he will now. :D

This one is halfway decent. I thought the overcast sky might help, but it's still REALLY WHITE.

Now I remember why I don't have many pics of this combo--it's hard to photograph with my camera!

Either the white looks good, but the tort is too dark

Or, the tort looks good and the white glows in the dark

Maybe if we try really hard we can convince BP to offer white Bongos with the oil finished neck. :D

Yeah, that originally said "Bass Central have these..." :)

I added "listed" as an afterthought.

Bummer.
