I don't know what it is but there is something that feels just right about that SR4.

Thanks ronnyG!!

That bass just begs to be played, and after all, that's what it's all about.

Come on guys there must be lots more mojo out there!!

BUMP.

The reason it begs to be played is two fold...number one..it is black with a maple neck..maple and chrome really pop with black..and two..you don't have to worry about scratching or nicking it..that would only add more mojo factor..and trust me, that bass gets played and it does it's job..wear and all, with the utmost pride.

The sad thing is...I had to let her go..and what hurt most is I was the original owner, I had that bass since I was 13 years old and all the mojo put in was mine.

The reason I had to let her go is an audition process I have been going through. As some of you know I am broke and jobless..starving musician if you will, a few things didn't work out. Well the auditions were going well but I wanted to clinch this band since they are on the verge of hitting the big time. And the leader is a tone freak. Well long story short between endorsments and a certain specific tone he was using for recording circumstances required me to trade her for a newer, different brand bass.

On the brighter side if there is any...I may have a chance to buy her back in the future as I have established a friendship with the trader..and although he did sell her on ebay, at least I have access to track her down one day when my finances permit me to buy her back. I wouldn't be surprised if it turns up back on this forum from the new owner..whomever it may be.

As well I was given permission to use a Music Man for live performance..at least for some of the time, hence will be in the market for a Bongo or similar..definatly want an MM and it's got to have 2 pups. And then to start the mojoing all over again on a newer bass.

Anyhow keep your eyes open to see if a beautifully mojoed black 1990 SR4 appears on these pages..I want to congrat the new owner...and keep in touch of course, I will have her back one day if all goes as planned.

Oh man that sucks, if i were you and if that bass meant that much to you, i'd have told the band leader to suck it!
I'm sorry for your loss :(

No I don't blame him..it was ultimatly my decision to let her go..the band leader is actually very cool and wants me to play one for live performances. I just wanted an edge to get in this band and that was part of the process..and it worked, I got in and am playing the record release party next week and then it's tour time.

It was more economics that caused me to let her go..but trust me as I live and breath..I WILL have her back one day..and a few new MM's to boot.

Thanks. Has a matter of fact I am meeting tonight with the person that did the trade as we need to trade cases as well. And you can bet I will get all the info regarding where that Stingray is now. I figure if I start the "sweet talking" early on I have a better chance of keeping in touch with her location..and the inevitible buy back.

The few next the output jack happened just days after I bought it (by another bassist at an open-jam). I was upset until I looked at my other bass and realized what would inevitably happen to the SR5. And sure enough, my history of instrument abuse has become a trend...

Since I bought my SR5 used, it has some wear on it, especially where the arm rests when playing, meaning it had a lot of use. The headstock also has a few small dings in it, but nothing too bad. I'm sure as I keep playing, it will end up looking something like my dad's old Fender Musicmaster Bass, which over the years, had it's paint fade to another colour >.>

Thanks Moondog-- that is exactly what we are looking for-- some serious 'tough love'!!!

Can you tell us a little of the story behind the mojo?
