Hello all. I'm new here. Hopefully, you can bear with my stupid newbie question. I remember seeing a Silhouette option a few years ago where you could switch out Silhouette pickguards loaded with different pickups(H/S/S to S/S/S to Single HB in Bridge position etc...) without having to solder in the new configuration. I think there was a plastic plug under the Pickguard. All you have to do is loosen the strings, unscrew the pickguard, unplug the connection to output jack and ground, and replace with another Silhouette pickguard with a different configuration. Does anyone here have one of these guitars? Any pics or info would be appreciated. This sounds like a great idea. And, I'm surprised that I've only seen this option with Ernie Ball guitars. Oh Yeah, My first EB was a Transparent Yellow EVH. Sweet Guitar. Love these guitars. I'm impressed with the Silhouettes also.

yea i have this on my 2005 silhouette. just a connector and off comes the pickguard from the jack with the pickups and all. wonderful idea, made it real easy.
allthought i used the original paf, thats the only thing i had to solder.

It doesn't ... the pickguard is all wired up in the traditional sense, but the connections to the guitar body (hot, ground, power from battery compartment) pass through a quick-disconnectable molex connector. Still not quick to swap the guard in, but doesn't require soldering.
I think all silhouette and Silhouette special guitars have this quick connect that connects the pickguard to the battery and jack. I find it useful when wiring in pickups because you can remove the pickguard completly to wire.
Music Man guitars do not have a "swimming pool" route under the guard for pickups. In other words, if you wanted to put a humbucker where a single coil was you would have to make a bigger hole.

i don't KNOW....but i bet specials dont have the quick connector......only original style silo.

Mine does... I have just swapped the three single coils for two humbuckers...

I thought that regardless of the pickup config all silo specials are routed for HSS. So even if you get the SSS config you could buy a new pickguard and swap the bridge single coil for a HB... Am I wrong?
