I'm considering ordering a BFR Luke, but I've never had the opportunity to play one. I bought my Sil Special last year without playing it in person & have been totally pleased, but people seem to have stronger opinions on the Luke (mostly due to the neck shape & EMGs).

Makes me nervous because it's a bigger investment.

Hey, I think this may be my 100th post :)

If you ordered from Guitar Center, well...no problem. Just return it. Otherwise, I would try a regular Luke first.

The Luke BFR is just now making it's way to dealers and customers who ordered back in January...so not very many people have played them unless they were at NAMM in the EB booth.

And they are expensive compared to the classic Luke...even with piezo. I'd suggest if you're leaning towards a Luke go with a piezo version first if you think that option will blend well with your playing style. If a pretty top is more important, save up and splurge the BFR.

I don't think one is any better than the other. They are all great guitars. If I had to pick just one out of the three it would be the Silo Special HSS configuration and piezo. It is heck of a guitar. It allows me to cover different styles of music from clean country type to metal if I wish. So it just really depends on the person's perticular style and use for the guitar. :D

Sorry BP, I don't want to cause any boxing matchs. I know better for next time.

How is the blend knob for the piezo? Not having the 3 way toggle that the Luke has to blend or just have piezo seems like it would be a bit of pain. How do you find not having the switch? Is it no biggy?

The way my set up has been in the past I hardly ever use it, as a matter a fact I never used it on my JP6.
I usually go from my guitar to a custom a/b box/splitter via PW stereo cable. My piezo goes from there to an EB VPJR Volume Pedal then to a TC g Major then to front of house. I set up the patches on the G major so that when I don't want the Peizo to be on it just shuts it off.
I try to use midi as much as possible to help make things simpler.
If you have any other questions please let me know.:)

I love the Luke but for some reason I keep hitting the middle pickup when I play so I went with the Silo special, it turned out to be the best move because i am always trying different pups and changing the pickguard - and as stated you can go from stratty tones on the neck single to metal tones on the bridge bucker, IMO its the best guitar MM has done yet, well at least the most versatile for me, when they make the BFR silo special (and I know its coming) its going to be the best guitar ever -
