Silent Circuit = Amazing

Okay, I'm sure it's been discussed, but man, I just gotta share my love for the Silent Circuit. My battery was dead in my new-to-me Silo Spec. I wasn't sure if it was working. So, I just went ahead and replaced the battery. All of a sudden, goodbye hum.

I don't use mine anymore, unless there's a ground loop or lighting problem. But I always carry a couple of 9v batteries just in case.

I don't mean to ask a stupid question, but what is a silent circuit?

It's a battery powered device in the MM guitars that have single coils. It's essentially a dummy coil that is used to cancel out hum so single coil and MM90s pickups are noise free. Works really well.

The Silo's don't come with them, and don't need them either. They're just for single coil pup hum canceling.

only one of my AL's comes with it, most of them are older AL's. I dont mind either way.

My 3 SSS AL's were made before the silent circuit got introduced in 2000/01 ( ? ), my MM90 AL has it though, as its late 2001.

hmm, one of my Silos is a 2000, and it has a SS. Maybe it was a late 2000.

maybe i read the post wrong, and the SS started on the AL in 2001, but was already on the ASS MM90 and silo special before that.
