Silent circuit question....

i (think) it is an alignment control for the noise canceling field. & all the way up is not necessarily the most efficient position for it to be in.
they are adjusted to their optimum effeciency at the factory......& shouldn't need adjusting unless it's already been tampered with.....or you have modified the pickups or the control cavity.

yeah I think Tommy is right. I remember a post where a guy posted a clip of his used Silo Special. It was loaded with Duncan single coils. The guitar sounded very "plumky". One of the theories was that the guy changed the pickups and connected the silent circuit but didn't set it right

The silent circuit is calibrated for whatever pickups are being used on a particular guitar. I would advise you to leave it alone.

I was wondering how do you recalibrate this if you change pickups or is that proprietory info?

I've mucked with one or two in my day. Found a noisy environment, and with the guitar in playing position dialed in the silent circuit until I found the optimum noise-cancelling setting for me.
