Silent Circuit question

Some of you have seen my Desert Gold SSS Silo Special. I've played this guitar in several different settings now and it just seems to hum much more than it should. Isn't there a way to adjust the Silent Circuit? I bought this guitar new and I don't remember it humming this much, however, I did sell it for a short period of time and I'm wondering if that guy messed with the settings. Basically, do I turn the knob clockwise or counter-clockwise to reduce hum?

Have you replaced the 9V battery?

Yes, the battery is fine. It also has the piezo and the piezo is going just fine.

I'd put a marker on there before any adjustments are made - say with a blob of Tippex / white out?
