I just put a pair of Fralin stock soap bar P90's in my Axis Super Sport. The original MM90's had been replaced with Dimarzio P169's when I bought the guitar. The P169's are 'virtual P90's' that are actually like mini humbuckers, so the silent circuit was pulled and they were wired to a 5 way switch. They weren't bad, but the Fralins's are just superb. My axis seems well shielded and the Fralin P90's are very quiet. I re-wired them to a tele type 3 way switch, and I am wondering if I should replace the silent circuit system of not? Any thoughts?

I probably would- you can dial out the remaining hum with the SC (there's a trim pot on it, so you can set the level). And it's not a lot of work to put it back in.

I've done something similar on one of my ALs- I've got Bill Lawrence Microcoil p'ups in there- they're very quiet (not noisefree), so I put a SC in to remove some of the remaining noise.

Thanks beej, my luthier friend has one lying around (pulled from a Music Man who's owner didn't want/like it), so I can get one for next to nothing.

Well then get it! Even if you don't use it for this, save it for another guitar- I use them in a bunch of guitars. Good to quiet down coil splits, etc.
