I've been thinking about a baritone guitar for a number of years and of course the MM Silhouette Bass Guitar has been at the top of my list.

For 2006, the Fender Custom Shop is building a Bass VI Reissue that looks quite nice indeed, and sells for just over $2,000:

Fender's an excellent company with high quality products, but my heart lies with Music Man. So here's the question... is there such a thing as a Music Man "Custom Shop" that could do a Bass VI knockoff using the SBG frame? If it comes in at or below the price of the Bass VI CS RI I'd be sold.

Imagine, if you will, an SBG that crosses these two instruments, with a hardtail, shell pickguard, and chrome knobs instead of black:

Get them all brother.
You deserve it...
and you live only one's...so get the most of everything including a Siluette and a Vl string Fender.
Have you heard that Fender is coming out with a 6 string KILLER BASS?
I heard that it will be a FINAL STATMENT in the bass territory.

Can't wait to see what a Leo's legacy invented....

I do plan on getting a normal Silhouette sometime in the future too, but I can really only justify one baritone at that $2000ish price point.

As much as I believe Fender will put out a nice (6-string) instrument, I can't believe that their instrument would compete with the likes of Alembic/MTD/Ritter/SEI and other similar high-end manufacturers.

Now that I look at the pics above a little more, I think I'm really only asking for a SBG pickguard :)

Maybe it's time for some photoshop prototyping...

As the quote sorta goes,

"A custom shop is for when your normal production sucks."

IE, nope. No EBMM custom shop. Your best bet would be an aftermarket pickguard on the Silo bass.

you could always buy the Silo Bass in the finish you want and have a good guitar dude make and install a custom pickguard for you. aftermarkey knobs should be pretty easy to get too.

that's what i'd do

I just heard back from MM Cust Service - they are not able to do this.

I might just go for the black and pretend that it's a Shergold like Peter Hook's old 6-string baritone ;)
