Hello,

I am new to this forum and couldn't easily find an answer to a question I have about Silhouette pickups.

I currently own a HSH Silhouette (very cool sparkle black finish, BTW!). My local store is letting my try a Silhouette Special with a HSS and Piezo combination.

Here is the question: The pickups on my HSH Silhouette have what look like Allen Key pole pieces, while the new Silhouette Special has what appears to be flat metal polepieces. The newer pickups seem more agressive that the older ones, or least they seem to have more attitude. I don't think the rosewood fingerboard on the new one would make that much difference.

I am just curious about the differences. Was there a pickup chagne on the part of EBMM for the whole line? I looked at other Silo's there and they all seem to have the flat polepieces, while my Morse as the "Allen Key" type.

Any illumination on this issue would be appreciated.

Nitrix

P.S. It seems customary to list EBMM pieces at the end of the email, so here we go:

Steve Morse Model
Axis MM90
Silhouette HSH
Sterling Fretless Bass
Silhouette Special (I hope!)
New Steve Morse Model on order!

Older 24 fret Silos have DiMarzio PAF Pros in the H positions....newer ones have DiMarzio Virtual PAFs...the Silo Spec is a different animal altogether...there hasn't been a change except for what i've listed here...the Morse has it's own SM Signature pickups so that's his design...The Virtual PAFS and the Silo Spec Bridge pup share a design trait of PAF style humbuckers...6 screws and 6 slugs as pole pieces....PAF Pro has the double allen row as well as JP's signature pups...

As well as the custom of listing our EBMM's at the end of our posts we have another custom - PICS!!!

There is nothing we all love more than pics of EBMM's if you get a chance to post some we would all love it. :D
