Went down the BluesJam again last night (don't worry, left the Camcorder at home). with my None More Purple Silhouette Special. Played a couple of slide songs with the help of these 2 things
JETSLIDE GUITAR SLIDE on eBay (end time 04-May-10 04:31:14 BST)
SLIDE GUITAR BRASS EXTENSION NUT #ZZFS on eBay (end time 26-May-10 02:41:54 BST)

Never settled on the best tuning for slide, currently using standard tuning with the top E dropped to D, so I can play rhythm on the bottom strings and easy leads on the top ones.(The Jetslide makes that easy) Both songs were in G , so I tuned the bass strings so they sounded correct at the 3rd fret, since tuning them open results in fretted notes being sharp due to the much higher nut.
Thought I sounded OK, though I'm probably more of a singer than a guitarist & Elmore James wouldn't have felt threatened.
Anyone else use an EBMM for slide?

To be honest Rob, there's little point in my being fussy about tone as who knows what amp will be on stage (last night a reasonable Fender Tranny Amp, but I've had to use a 10w Roland before now) and no-one's interested in watching me dick about with the controls for 10 minutes to find "my" sound
Just so long as it sounds vaguely like an electric guitar.....though since the slide nut extender is so easy to put on/off I might try the MM90 ASS next time

I like the neck pickup on my HSH Silo for slide, a little thicker than the bridge pickup, but not as muddy as other humbucker guitars I've played, probably because the pickup is closer to the bridge with the 24 fret neck. I use standard tuning normally, but do own a Melobar Rattler lap steel tuned to open E that I lug to gigs on occasion.

Mine's SSS.....not sure what it really sounds like as I've never tried slide at home. Just a fun thing last night with a DR Feelgood song
As for tunings, I've got this one with a dropped 1st string and a Warmoth AxisSportalike in E....depends o the song
