I have a Silhouette Special on order and was curious what styles of music you SS owners play. I've heard that the versatility is one of the best features, so I'm curious what you think about yours. I have an HSS coming. If you have the same, what do think about the ability to go between clean and crunch? Thanks.

I've got one and play hard rock mostly. Find I switch between clean and distorted sounds a lot.

While I love the look and feel of the SS, I personally didn't like the pickups so swapped them out but kept the SSH configuration.

It's a super-versatile guitar! From time to time I miss having a HB in the neck, but on my other guitars I miss having a single in the neck. Just means having more guitars :D

I have a HSS Silspec and the versatility is it's main advantage over my other guitars. The clean sounds are excellent, particularly the middle setting(neck sc and split hb). I personally like the back humbucker as fitted but have read on these forums quite a few people seem to think they are not powerful or dynamic enough- just a matter of opinion. My SIl has also got the piezo option and it is really sweet for clean passages either by itself or mixed with sc sounds. I only wish EBMM had bothered to fit the same 3 way switch that they do on the Luke and Petrucci models to make switching between pickup types. Apart from that little gripe, they're a greay ax. Enjoy...

Thanks beej & jimmyp...I appreciate the input. I'll be interested to see what I think about the pickups.

Anybody else?

I use the silo special as my main guitar and I have 2 axis as well, the silo is way versatile and comfy to play with a great neck but like the others I had to get rid of the stock pups to get it to where I needed it to sound, I play hard rock and the bridge pup wasnt hot enuff for me, other than that the guitar is excellent and I think youll dig it -
