I prefer the 22 frets to the 24; just more comfortable for me. i do, however, like the HSH config of the 24 fret model.
Can a silhouette special (22 frets) be ordered with an HSH configuration?

Nope...You can try a single sized humbucker from DiMarzio like the Pro Track though. I myself actually find 22 fret guitars more comfortable and the balance...Mainly due to my size. I know a lot of others dont have this issue, but everyone has their preferences.

I've still got an OLP silhouette special version, & that thing plays awesome. every once in awhile, the thought of getting a "real" one crosses my mind.

You can also rout it out at your own peril as one of the forumites just did that on his Silo Special. I would never be able to take such steps. And you should get the real deal Silo Special...no comparison.
