Help! Silhouette vs Axis

Hey i wanted to ask you guys what you think about the hsh silo and the floyd axis. Also, could you tell me if the musicman vintage tremolo compares to the MM floyd? can it do VH wobbles and dives?

Yeh mate. For me it's no trouble cause you have the locking tuners.

I had an Axis (floyd) and will say that if you want a precise trem that stays in tune better than anything else, it is absolutely the only way to go.

I've got 4 MM guitars and all now have the vintage trem. I don't use a trem anymore (why I sold my Axis), so have stuck with only guitars that don't require string lock fiddling to retune.

I have had both and no the silo will not stay in tune as good as the Axis...not for big dive bombs and squeelie bends and such. Im talkin big dives where its bottomed out and the strings are flopping. For soft vibrato stuff the vintage trem works great though. I also didnt care for the tone of the silo as much as the axis. Much more thin and vintagey sounding. Axis is just fatter and fuller sounding to me

Ive had a silo (with a floyd and it stayed in tune always), silo special, luke, and a petrucci and none of these take the whammy abuse like the axis does

Agreed completely on the trem bridge.

As for sound, the Silhouette is a more laid-back vintage sounding guitar, and the Axis is a supercharged modern hot rod. They are both incredible instruments, but I'm sure you'll find that one tone suits you better (for me it's the Silo)

What the others have said, plus the Axis and Silo Special having 22 frets, while the Silo has 24 frets can be an issue for tone purists for the neck humbucker pickup location. All have a super comfy 10" radius. The Axis has the EVH asymmetrical back cut plus an 1/8th" on the high E side.
