Why doesn't the Silo and the Al come with a switch to switch between the mags and the piezo? I took my Silo to my local luthier and he told me that the way the jacks are setup that he couldn't install a switch for me. This really sucks because it would be so much easier to have a switch instead of having to turn down the mags and turn up the piezo.

That is my absolute ONLY gripe regarding the Silo.
They can't make it perfect, because nobody'd buy any other guitars expect for colour reasons! :D

Bummer.

I'd have to think about this a bit, but it seems to me you might be able to install a multiple pole switch in the circuit before the mag and the piezo vols.

Just thinking out loud here, but it could switch to a high resistor intsead of one of the pots (either mag or piezo vol) to give the effect of turning the pot down (effectively turning off the volume) and allow the other pot to be fully useable. In the other direction it would do the opposite. Like this you would have a quick switch to turn either volume control off and allow the other vol control to be useable.

Now that I'm a little more sober (but quite hungover) ...

You could do this with a 4PDT on/on mini toggle switch (Allparts has them). Switched in one direction you'd take one pot out of the loop and replace it with resistance while allowing the other pot to function normally. In the opposite direction, well, you'd get the opposite :p Then you'd have a good mag/piezo switch and it wouldn't require too much wiring.

See I thought the same thing. I couldn't understand why you couldn't install a switch somewhere in the circuit prior to the vol. pots. The guy that worked on my guitar is a well known and well respected guy in the area, so I don't really know why he couldn't do the job of adding a switch.

Not sure exactly. If you really want to do it I can draw up a diagram for you- just PM me - and you could bring that in to him and see if he'll do it. Would just need to know the value of the mag volume pot, but a quick email to EBMM customer service and they'd email the schematic.

Hey Ryan-

I don't have your email address to send the files to, so I'm putting 'em here. First up is the switch wiring, next is the EBMM wiring diagram for your silo (thanks Stephen!)

Hopefully this is correct, but if I'm way off base somebody please correct me. (Note that the grounds on my diagram should follow the pattern on the EBMM diagram.)
