I think the Silo Spec is a great guitar that seems to be overlooked and underrated--even here on the forum.

It's sort of like EBMM have all these great flavors, and the Silo Spec is the vanilla ice cream of the bunch. It seems like most people go for bigger flavors in JPs, ALs, Gold Rollers, Lukes, Morses, and BFRs of various types. The Silo Spec may be plain vanilla, but man, it's a good vanilla. It's like a great Tahitian Bean Vanilla or something.

Just my miscellaneous ramblings for the afternoon.

I have no issues with the Silo Special. I just prefer 2 humbuckers and the Floyd.

I think they look cool, come in great colours and offer many different sounds.
As I think about this, I can’t recall too many Silo or Silo Special NGDs of late.

Yep while it took me awhile to bond, Silo Special is a great guitar, really leaning towards it as my next purchase:)

i think the luke snares the biggest share of SC users, followed by the SS and then bij the AL. but underrated? here maybe, don't think the rest of the world thinks the same way.

I was just thinking about this yesterday. The last two guitars I bought were a 25th and an AL HH. Each of those got my undivided attention for a couple months, but in both cases, I drifted back to the Silo Special. When I pick up the 25th or the AL HH after some time away, I'm still amazed by the tone, and I still think that either could be my desert island guitar. I'll never part with either. But, I seem to always return to the Silo Special. It's just a really solid, honest, unpretentious workhorse of a guitar, that sounds, plays, and looks great.

Silo Specials - nope, never liked them at all - especially not with 3 single coils, rosewood fingerboard and a trem;)

First EBMM - 2004 Silo Special in vintage burst:

Sold it to get something else, missed it too much and after a detour with an MM-90 AL I wound up with this one

2007 LE Silo Special Blue Dawn:

I also love PRS Guitars and picked up a limited edition last year so I sold the 2007 as a "guilt sale". I replaced it with another one.

How is the Silo Spec an underdog? There is plenty of love for the Silo Spec on the forum... If BP and Co would stop releasing cool stuff every time I go to buy a Silo Spec I would already have one by now... damn Green Sport, Green Axis and HHAL among others that have since come and gone...

I'm really tempted to order a Silo Spec with the roasted package...great opportunity to get one with a highly figured neck...never owned one but played a few...great instruments as all EBMM and the combination of alder and singlecoils is a no-brainer!

Dude, that's an extremely good description....I tasted it many times at various places, and I'm looking for one to get hold of. I even will let my ASS go for it, that tells all, I guess

Plain??? No, it's a classic....just a thoroughly good electric guitar with no money wasted on fripperies (wavy wood tops, odd patterned neck backs, special inlays, limited editions, PAH!!!!!!)
....but then I like vanilla ice-cream and prefer pizza without 25 clashing toppings!
