Candid, I think that if you tried the AL, you'll find it compliments the Silo Special and they both have the same type of feel, from my perspective.

Glenn |B)

Oh, I'm sure you're right, Glenn. I just don't want myself to know that. ;)

But really, I've never been so pleased with a guitar as I am with these two Silos. Just a die hard fan. No doubt the AL (or a 20th!) would get played a fair amount, though. I can imagine they work well together.

Since this is a Silo thread, I'm going to blow my horn on them a bit. I see a lot of players with a lot of Axis, lot of JPs and ALs, but I don't see many with more than one Silo Special. What I really love about my current set up is that the HSS Silo Special has such a wide variety of tonal options. Given that rosewood and maple boards generally have different characteristics (mine sure do!), it's like having 6 or more guitars in just 2.

Compared to today's players, I'm just an old hack: a blunt way of saying "old school." My needs aren't that great, and I currently lack the means to enjoy the pleasures of collecting guitars just to have them, or tinker occasionally with them. Add to that an intentionally minimalist lifestyle, and the Silos to me are like manna.

As EBMM CS can attest, I'm a real stickler for detail, and things operating as advertised. I couldn't be happier with my Silos.

At one point I thought of selling one of them to partically fund an AL, but Rob kicked me in the ass. I'm glad he did.

Sorry if that was TMI.

Michael, if you're talkin about the Gremlin Green AL we will make a deal. :D

I thought this was the Pete wants a Silo Special thread (envy green, trem, mint condition, very sexy)

Not the Pete's outta his cotton pickin' mind thread :p

With the choice...I'd keep the Gremlin over the BFR,

I do believe Mike has bought 3 guitars from me... I've bought one from you, while you've (almost) bought one from me.

Mike 3
Glenn 0 (-1?)

:D

Well Pete since I have bought two from you does that mean if I make my way north I can see the vault:D

Nice guitars, but they are missing two frets. Must be a defect or something.;)

With the extra 2 frets, maybe they should call the originals "Silo EXTRA Specials" !

I know this is an EBMM website and we are all big fans of their guitars... but I really really love my Silo Spec. It has such a incredible feel to it, and it sounds great. I especially love the sound when the pickups are in the "neck" position.

Plus it looks pretty awesome too. :)

I apologise for being left-handed. I promise not to post any more upsetting pictures

I'm left handed, but when I was a kid the guitars were always right handed so I adapted. Now I'm a left handed guy who plays right handed.
Remember, only lefties are in the right state of mind!!!!! ;)

Speaking of Morse, I remember the first time I heard him. I was managing a band in Marin County, and the drummer said 'you have to listen to this guy in a band called The Dregs.' I was like, holy crap!

I first noticed that Steve Morse was a lefty when I asked for his autograph after a Dregs show. I was rather surprised that he was signing it left-handed.

My daughter is a lefty too. She would probably play the guitar right-handed as well as she said it feels more natural that way. However, she doesn't seem to be interested in playing the guitar. :( But at least she enjoys playing the piano. :)

Alright Fogman glad to not be alone in this guitar world, I am a lefty but since I have only been trying to play for a few years now it just seemed natural to play right handed, weird I know but also explains why I have no prob with the fret board but picking is another thing all together LOL.

Must always remember that only lefties are in the right state of mind!:)
