man how much are all guitars different!!!!!! We are all finding our own observations, interesting!!! I'm pretty happy with my DD, its just perfect, exactly how i was hoping it would be, slightly fatter neck than my old Blue Silo, and KILLER single coil tones. Hardtails rock too.

Dont find any speed differences Bruce, not that i think thats much of an issue anyway.

both great guitars for sure..for some the Special will be erm..more special but for others the regular Silo will be 2 frets better.

at one time the silo came with 4 differing p/up combinations but there wasnt a 22 fret MusicMan neck unless you bought a signature guitar.MusicMan made a good decision coming up the Special and making the 2 Silhouette models distinct
from each other.they're not mutually exclusive but rather compliment each other perfectly imo

me personally,I have a soft spot for the 24 fretter as it was the first top end guitar i ever owned but I'm more than happy with the special I have now

As for the silo sounding more modern, with a pup swap in the special you can make it sound identical to the silo. They are both alder guitars and virtually the same shape etc....I have a hot pup in my special and I used it in a funk metal band along the lines of King Hazels band and I got heavy ass tones out of it, stock it was a bit weak in the bridge for what I was doing. Its really a matter of taste, I like them both, but at the time I wanted a single in the neck for strat tones so I went with the special, I always say grab the guitar that speaks to you, no matter what color it is or what the fingerboard is or how many frets it has, how many times have we all picked up guitars that just play themselves in our hands, thats how I flet with the silo special so I went home with it -

Bruce, I just find it odd sometimes that people ask if some guitars are faster than others, though i must say i found all my strats that ive owned fairly slow, but thats because of the heavily laquered necks. All the EBMM necks are ultra smooth and equally fast IMO.

Speed is in the fingers i think. and maybe lighter guage strings.

What is the difference between rosewood and maple anyway as far as sound? And also, does one feel better than the other to you guys? My main reason for wanting maple is the looks

Rosewood feels a little softer and sounds a bit warmer and rounder - maple has more spank and its a brighter sounding harder feeling wood, I used to be strictly maple because I liked the sound, ala EVH, then I decided I like the feel of rosewood so I became a rosewood guy, now im confused because I like both -

I find my maple board definitely quicker.

LOL, same here. They each have their own tone and feel. Confused, but in a good way :D. Actually, I like the way my maple plays better, but still like the tone of my rosewood better.
