Im in the market to buy one soon my only question is do I get a head with a half stack or the mark V combo? I don't want to sacrifice the fullness of tone which I feel I may with the combo but like the compact size and overall price of the combo. Any opinions on this? Thanks.

Ahh...the combo vs head decision. I went with the head and a 2x12 three quarterback cab, in case I ever play on a stage. Each piece is easy to carry and separates the weight load. This is a loud amp if you want it to be, but it can be played at lower volumes on the 10 or ever 45 watt setting using the output control. With the head option, you can always plug into a 4x12 in the future. Cheers.

I had the Mark V combo for a while, it has a lot of modes for sure, if your into tweaking thats the amp for sure. Mine must of been built on a Friday in the afternoon, because i couldn't figure out why the crunch channel had a (channel 2) nicer lead sound than channel 3 in all modes. Main reason why I decided to say, see ya later. I use now, its heavier than ****, a Roadking head a two twelve cab and also a mini Mesa Recto mini stack.

Head+cab definitely. A combo may be less space, but heavier than a top or cab. And in the end the combo just doesn't deliver the low end push from a closed cab. Either way, you're going to have a very nice amp!

I just read the manual. Man, that is alot of amp. Too much for most. And very much a monster I'm sure.

My votes is head + cab. Ultimate diversity with different cabinet options. Lighter to carry around piece by piece as well.

I've recently come to the conclusion that I'm getting a Mark V (Head+Cab) too!
Though the very first time I played a Mark V was the combo, and it immediately turned me off of the idea of owning a Mark V.
The 5 combos I've tried just didn't, well, sound like they were suppose to. I really opened up the amp, and cranked it a little.
I just couldn't get the tone out of it.
When I tried out a couple head+cabs, it blew my mind. Everything was in place, it sounded just phenomenal.
So my vote is the head+cab, due to my bad experiences with the combo. :)
