Single Pick Up Bass ONLY!

Built one with an alnico MM pickup in the Precision spot. This pic
was running passive... I installed a 2-band, then a 3-band, then
added a series/single/parallel switch. It was muddy no matter
what I did.

I wouldn't rush to blame the mudd simply on the location of
the PU. The neck PU on an HH Ray is not muddy. Acoarst it's
got some thud that the bridge PU doesn't have, but there's
no way I'd call it muddy ... and the HH neck PU is decidedly
closer to the neck than the single PU on the bass you built.

Playing coils 2 and 3 on an HH Ray is somewhat similar to
the location of your single PU, and again not a muddy tone.
It is, as expected, punchier than playing just the neck PU.

Pedro Aznar Single H Ray....

Watch...he plays with a pick...fingers...and solos in the same song...

I think when I say the Single H is all you need, saying that makes it sound "simple stupid"...it works in such a big big way...

Watch this guy..He's the Argentinian STING
