Hi,

I play songs in tunings from standard E down to drop A and i am looking for the perfect strings for me. I currently use regular slinkys and i find them perfect for standard E and Drop D. I guess STHB would be perfect for standard D and drop C but not good enough for drop B or A. But then would beefy be good for B and A, and would it be bad to have in standard E (which i use most)? Then theres not even slinky, great for B and A (i'm guessing) but bad for the guitar in standard E?

Thanks for any suggestions.

I reckon it's basically impossible to use only one gauge of strings for tuning as diverse as E standard all the way down to dropped A. If your guitar has a floating bridge and you want to alternate between all these tunings, then I suggest you block it so as to effectively create a fixed bridge guitar.

Not Even Slinky is what I'd recommend for dropped B (B,F#,B,E,G,C#) or standard B (B,E,A,D,F#,B). But for dropped A, I suggest you buy a heavy 7-string set and throw out the first string.

Good luck!
