I recently purchased a used sterling 4 banger and was wondering how you guys EQ your bass for some groovy slap style...is it best to scoop your mids?

what pickup configuration do you have?

i find that all i have to do on my HS is put the selector in the middle turning all of the pickups on.

i dont have a sterling, but from what i can tell you is that scooped mids sounds ok in my room (i like my mids btw). Ive been told that scooping out the mids for a slap tone will not work in a live setting with other instruments. (someone verify this)

have you tried the flat tone? my Music Mans seem to have come out of the box with a good slap tone at flat.

im no expert tho, maybe one of the sterling fanatics here can chime in

edit: care to post pics? we love pics here!

I would say roll the eq flat and adjust to the venue you're in. But then again, it has been a long time since I played live.

Just boost a little bit of bass and keep everything else flat with the pup switch pointing to the bridge (parallel).
That's it but you'll need a full range sounding amp also.

What Rano said.

I EQ flat, maybe a bit of bass if I'm not feelin it, and maybe a bit of treble if my strings are lame.

Never dime anything.

Please don't slap your EQ or any other part of your bass...it's just plain mean :D

Yeah, pretty much this for me..except I like the switch to the other side (series?) It's really a great preamp in the EBMMs, in that you can use the Eq to add a dash of flavor to the sound, rather than being forced to use it to try and compensate for some flaw in the design.

Ahem..pics please! :)
