Is this possible to do on my Luke 3 without a pickguard?

Go to 4:02 of below link.

If not, how does everyone else transition between slide and no slide when playing live?

I have never done much legwork. Did you times that I did I found a way to mount it on a mic stand so I could grab it when required.

Personally, without a pickguard, I would never put it on the front of the guitar. As PG says at 5:05, you have to lose the fear of banging the guitar. Without a pickguard, the slide will beat up at the finish. So I’ll be wondering about maybe somewhere on the back of the guitar like the back of the upper horn maybe? Have somebody very carefully drill two flat bottom holes to the right depth and glue two neodymium magnets in there.

I won’t have a mic stand in front of me with this band lol. I’m wondering if the guitar strap or a clever idea with my pants would work…
