Hello and congratulations for your new guitar

A guitar is made of wood thus small adjustments are needed when the temperature and humidity change. In your case, a slight truss rod adjustment can solve quickly the fret buzz.
Here you have an explanation how to do it :

Hope that helps !

I make truss rod adjustments all the time. On the fly, as conditions change here in the SW. Super easy with the easy access TR wheel.

If it played fine before and now has a buzz then it's probably relief that's changed due to humidity or temp change.

I have slight (initial- upon attack) buzz on all my guitars too

I have a Luke that I'd like to setup w/ a little relief and or flatten out the neck.
But, the truss rod wheel is fully CCW w/ no tension.
If I go CW then it goes the wrong way. (bow)

Any suggestions?

Thx - Dan

clarity!! What do you want to accomplish - a straight neck with possibly a little relief?? Where is your neck now??

what do you mean "no tension"?? (on the strings or neck). what goes the wrong way?? (The neck or the results)

Trying to see if I can set up a little relief on the neck. It's flat right now, but the truss rod wheel has no tension on it. It's fully CCW and if I keep going CCW it just backs away from the neck until it hits the pickup.

Turning it CW tightens it against the neck and moves the neck from flat to bow (the opposite of what I'm trying).

The reason behind this is that I have slight buzz in the open high E string and it may be fretting out on the first fret. When I fret the hi E string anywhere on the board, the buzz / deadness goes away.
I did start a different thread w/ that specific question then saw this one regarding truss rod adjustments.

Thx - Dan

Dan,

Not sure what in the world is wrong with your truss rod?! Has it ever been "messed' with?

I probably wouldn't do anything (set-up etc. . .) until I got that squared away.

Tightening the truss rod will induce back bow it will give you a convex effect.

See Drewbixcubed's great vid on the EB wesite.

Usually if a truss rod is as slack as can be and the neck is straight, then the neck has tp be supported and a weight (uhh not too much) appied to the neck. This along with tuning the guitar to a slightly higher pitch will also induce extra tension on the neck giving it a concave bow. It should be a very slight bow and not taken to a ridiculous extreme.

Guitar tech here in Cardiff would prolly charge just an hours bench time but would need to have the guitar with him for a week or so.I mention this just in case you are considering taking it to a pro.

However before taking me up on my suggestion, phone/e mail Customer Support at EB who will help - it's their job !!!

The Luke is an 08' I got it in trade a few months ago, far as i know it has never been messed with. It was and is mint shape when I got it.

I will call customer service this week and see what they suggest.
Otherwise the guitar plays and sounds fantastic.
Still extremely happy w/ the trade.

Thanks for your help:)

I'm experiencing exact the same thing on my Luke 2010... (truss rod also fully CCW and no adjustment possible)
I suspect is has to do with the very dry climate here so I'm getting a room humidifier to get some moist back into the neck.

What did the customer service advice you to do?

With the truss rod adjustment full CCW, they suggested that I gently but firmly push on the center or the neck while holding the back of the head stock. It's possible that the truss rod is stuck and this may help to break it free or get it to move. If it's not stuck, it may help to bring a little bow back in play.

I don't think that my truss rod was stuck, but I was able to at least ensure that the neck is flat w/ a very slight bow / relief to it. I'm sure it will be a seasonal thing, cause I have to tweak my other guitars as well.
At least there is no back bow....

+1

That's what I often suggest if it feels like the rod is stuck at the end of its range. Handy trick.
