I also switched from DR strings to Slinkys when I went all EBMM. I think they're great strings.:D

ya the genious thing is that EB makes the strings and has a fresh set on all the basses that leave the factory. so if you somehow forget that the Slinkys are the bomb you are reminded in 2 months when you get your new bass ;)

I have used DR Hibeams, Fatbeams and Lowriders for quite some time on my Fender and Carvin 5'ers to get the B string to sustain properly for any length of time. Any other string on those basses would go dead very rapidly.

I am pleasantly suprised with the Slinkys that came on my SR5. Solid, sustaining and balanced on that bass in my experience. :)

I'll add this, EB flats are really really good too. I actually like them better than TIs. They sound great and they have just the right tension. Plus they are very reasonably priced.

I love the Hybrid Slinkies on bass, but could never get into the guitar varieties as my acidic sweat toasted the plain strings in a hurry.

I use Slinky's on both my Musicman's. Tried all kinds of strings but these suit me the best. Which reminds me........Gotta order some spare sets ;)

I just wish I could find someone willing to order me a set of EB flats for my 5 string Bongo. :(

One place in Atlanta took my number over a month ago and said they'd call me when they showed up. Haven't heard from them since.

I ordered my two sets of EB flats from Doug (bassplyr). Fosho he can hook you up! :)

If It Ain't Broke Don't Fix It

I first discovered Slinkys while trying different brands of strings for other 4 and 5s before I was lucky (smart) enough to own and play SR5s. Slinky's felt the best for me, and had the truest sound for each instrument with flattest possible amp settings depending on the music situation.

Since I purchased SR5s, I've never had any need or desire to try offbrand strings with them. Great sound, great feel, reasonable price, and long enough life depending on how clean I keep my fingers and wipe down after playing.

Ernie Ball Music Man did it right the first time.

Wish I could say the same. I did stings, pretty much the same way I did my basses... all over the board. I have got to say that I did try Slinks when I got my first EBMM SR4. Loved the sound but the bass wasn't for me (just didn't feel right). When I gave up on the bass, I gave up on the strings and wandered in the wilderness for years. Loved Blue Steels, then SR-2000's but they were too expensive or to hard to locate. 2004 a Bongo 4 shows up on my doorstep loaded with Slinks. I was hooked. Tried SR-2000s on it, tried Chromes on it, and both just weren't right. Slinks helped bring out the "true" tone and once I found Power Slinks it was all over for the other brands.

Just got done putting some Power slinkies on my Sterling and my StingRay. They are IT for me. I get a mean finger workout but the tone is worth it, plus those things KILL for downtuning.

I just replaced 4 month old TI Jazz Rounds (low tension, small gauge) on my fretless Sterling with Super Slinks....it's a whole new bass. I think probably I didn't have the setup correct for the TI's but when I put the EB's on, I gave the truss wheel a 1/4 turn tight (more relief) and presto!!!....mwah & tone for days. Nothing sounds like a fresh set of Slinks.
