On the weekend of September 15th my parents and grandparents are going to visit a cousin attending a school in SLO. Unfortunately, i've got a show that weekend with Danny Gokey again (been called back 7 times now) so i won't be able to visit or even inquire about a tour... :)

So this is more or less a recon mission for my parents and grandparents.

Where would be good points of interest to stop for food - or kind of unique places to see that most wouldn't think of...

Im sorry I didnt see this sooner but I am swamped...really swamped...In colorado today california tomorrow then colorado nevada california and the kansas city...I dont mean to be rude but give me more of what they are interested in doing...al;so realize that for others that want dining and travel service I really dont have time....

If they like italian there are two very good ones....Buona Tavola and guisseppes...firestone grill is very popular and I did the salads for them....there is really good wine tasting and if they are there thursday night there is an awesome farmers market.

For point of interest...id say Montana de oro state park. Its along the coast about 15 minutes off freeway (los osos exit).
Also Cambria further north about 1/2 an hour is nice. Some galleries and moonstone beach which is beautiful and has a boardwalk along the cliffs overlooking ocean for them to stroll and get some fresh air. Also a sister restaurant (of firestone in SLO) called main st. grille in cambria.

But the big payoff in that area, if there's time, is a drive along the big sur coast. They'll remember that more than anything if they havent seen it imo.

BP-

I fully understand the busy schedule - and truly and sincerely appreciate you taking the time to even comment since it was so personalized and completely non-related to Guitars/Basses...

I will offer those suggestions to my family - normally i'm pretty well traveled in California and across the country but i've only been through SLO once and it was about 1am and it was dark... LOL

Keith-
thanks for also adding to the list - i really do appreciate it. I will let them know about all the wonderful points of interest that has been mentioned thus far.

Thanks again guys

BP,
not sure what brings you to my state of Colorado...but if you can make it to see Jason at Drum City you will be impressed with the store. Great EBMM supporter and the best guitar shop in the state. If you are here to eat, Barolo Grill is the answer. Hope you enjoy your brief visit.

Well I am a day late and a dollar short! If I had known about the Grand Junction deal I could have packed up my band and played a gig for you at the Rock Slide Brewery...my friend runs it. Already have something lined up here in Denver and can't change now. Great job in Alamosa and best of luck in GJ and Telluride...awesome and pretty country down there. I will watch where you compete and make it out one of these days!

I'm dropping my son off at college over that same weekend. I plan on doing some wine tasting between SLO and Arroyo Grande (Corbett Canyon area, off of Hiway 227), and some clam chowder at the Old Port Inn just west of Avila Beach for dinner. Next day, on the way out, breakfast at Louisa's Place on Higuera in SLO. If we're still there in the PM, and we can get an indoor table, maybe get some lunch and watch football at the Firestone Grill (really good chili and BBQ, but very crowded).

The California Central Coast is a great area, and the SLO area in particular. They won't be able to have anything other than a good time!
