Hi all..

I'm on a little quest..does anyone know which actual ebmm picks (size and material) Steve Morse uses? In one interview he mentions the below however I can't find a medium-heavy pick on the website; judging from a few vids the closes I've come to are Ernie Ball | Guitar Picks - Heavy Assorted Color Picks, Bag of 24

SM: I can live without my pick, but I can't play my normal riff s without it! It's a Music Man - normal sort of heart shape, approximately medium-heavy. I wear them out pretty quickly, but they give a nice attack without being too unyielding.

Thanks

Hello

Here you can see 2 Steve Morse's picks (a gift from Tommy after the Flying Colors concert in Paris. Thanks a lot Tommy :) ) :

In order to show the size, I put some well known picks.

The Ernie Ball picks that Steve uses have exactly the same dimension as the Dunlop Tortex pick.
The .88 mm Dunlop Tortex has the same width and strength. The only difference is the material used.

Hope that helps !

Cionian, I spent a lot of time analyzing Steve's technique, thus it's a pleasure to share some information.
My wife was a bit surprised to see me taking pictures of picks ... strange way for spending your Sunday afternoon !

By the way, I consider the picks that Tommy gave me like holy relics ! You can look at them, but you cannot touch them !

Yes I thought you may have actually done the pic for this response alone. Aren't we lucky to have such understanding wifes? Yesterday mine accompanied me to a music shop to have a look at picks..today she helped me identify picking technique and pick colour from low-res vids on youtbe and she generally puts up with and encourages me.. A long term previous gf was quite the opposite..marriage is bliss!

Tom.

p.s Re Tommy's gift I'd be the same..holy indeed.
p.p.s Any tips on learning Morse's techniqe? After 15 years of sporadic playing I want to switch from economy to strict alternate picking and also holding the pick with three fingers. I think it's better in the long term.
