Any pics of this 30th Anniversary Ray.

NAMM isnt too far off. Hopefully, there is at least a small sneaky peak.

I suspect no pics will be available until NAMM but rest assured if one is there I'll have all sorts of pics then.

BZZZT. Incorrect.

That's the 2006 LE, not the 30th Anniversary Stingray. Different animal.

Based on the description, I think the 30th Ray will look a lot like that droolworthy Bongo from the open house that everybody wants made but which will not be for some insane and inexplicable reason.

All dark red translucent and delicious.

If Sterling were to green light that mahogany Bongo, I'm pretty sure it would be profitable, if only because Jack would buy enough of them for himself to provide an immediate positive return on investment!

Jack may very well be the biggest Bongo-whore this side of Ol' Miss...

...be he still has to answer to 'she who balances the budget'! :D

*bzzt* incorrect to you on that score..I did the math and Jack's earned/paid commissions to date are within $10 of how much he's spent on EBMM basses to date.

Oh, no, I meant positive ROI to EBMM! Jack is the junkie here. Sterling is the pusher. I'm pretty sure that when Sterling handed that green flame Bongo over, he said "Don't worry, son, the first one's free...."

It is THE Bongo! At the Open House, BP whipped out this monster (ok, that sounds bad) - this unreal Mahogony Bongo bass with a trans red finish - easily one of the greatest basses I have seen. Within a minute, BP was suround by onlookers and trying to keep his feet dry from all of the drool puddles being produced. There should be pictures floating around somewhere (I've got one or two but they they are pretty crappy and don't do it the justice that it deserves) - I think Gav got some close ups in the guitar room... Gav???

You need to go dig up the Open House photos (sorry, I'm too lazy...they're out there). Perhaps one of those who took pictures could post a link.

There was a one-off mahogany bodied bongo with a birdseye maple neck (rosewood board) in dark trans red. Stunningly beautiful.

I'd buy one in a New York minute, and that's saying something...unlike a lot of the bass ho's around here I'm not given to buying stuff unless I need it.

IMHO the 30th anniversary model could be any color of your choice and any pickup of your choice with the inscription " Leo did not build this" placed anywhere on it.

Now this is possible if we're only counting basses I've purchased during my stint as EBMM Sales Monkey for VBTC.

Possible, although I haven't done the math.

If we start to travel back in time to my first Stingray purchases, well, the concept of Sterling as pusher and me as junkie becomes ever more clear. I'm in hock to the company store, as it were.

On the other hand, it's not like they came looking for me.

Anyhoo, the mahogany Bongo was a nice piece of work, wasn't it?

Can't wait for that 30th Anniv. Bongo. 27 years to go. Can I put a deposit down now? Maybe by then I'll have actually learned a tune or two.

That would rock Jack but we know you won't give up the secret since you got the special guvment clearance and all.

Won't quell my inquisitive nature
