Hey Everyone,

Just a quick shout to all of the SoCal Knucks who may be affected by the wildfire situation we are having. Please plan ahead and prepare appropriately for an evacuation. I came home from work early, because the L.A. County Fire Dept were starting evacuations just 1/2 mile north of my house....my wife, daughter and I could be next.

From watching the news, it seems like it's going to get worse before it gets better.

I hope this message finds all of the SoCal Knuckleheads and their loved ones safe and sound during this time.

Just remember, once your wife and kid are safe, DON'T FORGET TO GET YOUR DARGIE OUT!!!! OR you could just leave it there and i'll fly out to "keep an eye" on it!!

Seriously though, be safe and I hope it doesn't affect your home.

Fires in SoCal

I hope everything goes OK for you and your family and everyone remains safe and your home is unaffected; I cannot imagine how scary that must be.

I have friends and family in the Arrowhead area, they started evacuating this morning.

Hope all of you guys are ok. That's terrible news.

Btw, there was a segment on last nights 60 Minutes that talked about the wildfire situation in the US. Very informative.

The Santa Ana's are kicking our ass...but my family and I are in a holding pattern for now...still haven't gotten the signal to evacuate as of yet.

Clothes and all the irreplaceable essentails are packed and ready to go.

As I packed away both Balls, and stared at the Dargie for extra moment or two before closing the case, I wondered...think Nasa could develop a guitar case made out of the heat shield tiles they put on the shuttle? Just a thought...

I'm in the Escondido / San Marcos area, its the north San Diego area, and I've had my stuff packed since yesterday.
The fire has been within a few miles to the south, north, and west of me, but the most important east, where the wind is driving from is still clear.

Monday night when it jumped the freeway and got west of me, the intensity of the flames were incredible.
The fire line was actually about 5 miles from me, but was so intense, it looked like the ridge 1/2 mile in front of me was also on fire.

The worst part of this is the the bureaucratic bull crap going on.
We have massive military fire fighting assets on standby, ready to go, but sitting on the tarmac while the CDF idiots watch So Cal burn.
Latest squabbling point is CDF won't let the military choppers out because they don't have an approved CDF spotter on board.
I have little tolerance for stupid people!

I just spoke to Forum member Bravo Victor and he's been evacuated in coastal N. San Diego area. Fire not too close yet and is precautionary.

Seems Lake Arrowhead area and San Diego are getting the worst of it in terms of structures.

I'm about 20 miles from the santiago/irvine fire and things are okay here. But the air quality is terrible. smoke and ash everywhere, although today is better than yesterday.

Man here in Greece we had the worst fire this past summer so i know what you mean. Over 60 people got killed from them..

Its a drag, especially when you know it is arson as in our case.

Maybe if worse gets to worse you can bury all your guitars just in case?

Actually this guy here from one of the villages that burned down buried himself and was saved. crazy!

The fires

My sister-in-law lives in the Arrowhead area; she evacuated yesterday morning. Her husband has a robotic web-cam on the porch (you can pan and zoom etc...);It's pretty cool. The camera is looking across highway 189. We had been checking the webcam all day and night yesterday to see what was happening. You couldn't see much other than gray skys and the trees blowing during the afternoon and evening. Later that night you could see a very bright light that was close to the house, but, it didn't look like fire, more like a light from a vehicle.

Unfortunately the cam went dead sometime early this morning, but, their phone and answering machine are still working. Hopefully, the house and everything else was spared and the problem is just the camera.

I also heard on the news this morning they had some people driving around looting; gotta love some people.

One of my best friends and her husband just had a newborn baby three days ago. They live in Escondido and I got a call from them this morning asking if they could crash at my pad because they had to be evacuated ... this is surreal!

It sure is surreal, the evacuation numbers are up over 500,000 for the San Diego / San Diego County area now.

Cool your friends have a place to go
The air is bad and not good for a new born anyways.

WOW. Several San Marcos/Escondido people. I work at a church in San Marcos and live in north Escondido. We have been a relief center for three days. It seems the worst is behind us, but the air quality is awful. Well over 500,000 evacuated and conservatively over 300,000 acres burned. As an EBMM mention, my wife and kids needed to evacuate while I was on shift at the relief center. She called and asked if she should take any guitars and I declined. Grab the hard drive and get out.

There has been a great outpouring of support we have more supplies than we can give out.

On a sad note, thousands of people have lost everything.

That is just what I thought when the 4th fire broke out just south of Magic Mountain here in the Santa Clarita valley. I could see the huge dark smoke cloud get bigger and bigger by the minute from my backyard...it looked like a scene from Apocalypse Now...especially with the choppers and planes dropping water passing over my house.

The fire where I am at this point is just about 80% contained. The devastation is San Diego is simply tragic.

Our thoughts are with those are lost their homes...God Bless them.

Wow guys, this is terrible! I don't usually watch the news on TV, but today I was out on a break from a long training session, and there was a TV on in the lounge, showing a guy reporting in front of his own hows burning down - that was intense!

I hope all fellow forum members from SoCal and their families (and guitars) are safe.

The desert is full with San Diego evacuee's THis is just really terrible. Hope all of you are safe and sound. ONe of my employees lives in Arrowhead and his house was spared..but most of his neighbors on his street were not so fortunate.

THe arson and looting just bring out the worst human nature has to offer.
