8:40 P.M. and my blood pressure is through the roof - NO BASS.

For those of you coming late to the story here is the basic recap:

Order bass in June and wait (no biggie-expected). > Feb rolls around and DDs start shipping - pay balance in full. > Word gets out bass is done AND dealer says bass is inbound. > Bass never shows - was shipped to someone else with the same config - have to wait for their bass to show. > Speak to dealer about shipping because I am up against a break at work (had bass shipping to work addy so someone could sign for it - because of my break no one is there) - was told it wasn't a problem and would check with me before shipping. >Get tracking number in email (good thing but was shipping to work addy while I'm on break - so it is bad). >Same day BEG dealer to intercept and redirect (offered to pay the fee too)- said it would be done. >Wed. not done, check back in - said could be done. Friday, bass shows in Cincy and goes out for delivery... TO MY WORK... no redirect > Again, ask dealer for a redirect on Friday - said it would get done. >Today (A.M.) no redirect in system according to UPS and I sweet talk my rep about letting me pick it up (this literally took me 3 hours of phone tag since I didn't have a "info notice"). > 2P.M. get call bass will be in at 7P.M. for pick up... YEA!!!!!! > 7:30 go to pick bass up... not there. > Redirect came through at 6:30 bass got pulled and is back on some truck. > Will be out for delivery tomorrow... maybe.> Tomorrow ??????????????

Does the word "frustration" come to mind??? Now, If I can just find all of the hair I pulled out :D

Conspiracy!

Ritch,

It's a conspiracy! Nearly the same thing happened to me. And it was my Bongo. And we both have "Ritch" in our names.....

Universal Package Smashers must not love us!

I literally had to find the driver. And get him to meet me out back of the depot. All secret squirrel like! GEEZ!

Oh my. I think I need a flow chart (and some Excedrin). :p

Good news is that it should be arriving soon... right?

Horrible story Ritch. Sorry it happened to you.

Id be sure I had a different dealer for the rest of my EBMM dealings.

Thanks to all.

I hope it arrives tomorrow (hell, I hope it is actually a DD Bongo 4H that shipped). For all I know it might show up at my apartment from 10 years ago. Who knows where it will go next (maybe I should start some side betting).

I got burned once on a custom order - I haven't been burned here but it has gotten the better of me. Life is too short to worry too much about this but I'll still get what milage I can out of it and have a good laugh when it is all done (I am having some good laughs about it now - Murphy and that stupid law have been stalking my bass around the country) :D

So, now I have to go over the checklist:
1) Supply of munchies, beer and Mt Dew - check
2) Supply of DVRed shows - check
3) Fav. spot on couch claimed - check
4) New batteries for the remote - check

Let the UPS waiting begin!!!!!!!!!!!

That stinks.

How about you redirect it to Kansas. I will take a day or two off in a week or so and deliver it in person? :D

Not making light of it Ritch. Just may as well laugh cuz getting mad isn't going to fix it.

Even though it isn't funny. Laugh any way.

Well, Ritch..

If you get tired of waiting, you can come visit the one that you originally expected! It's just a 5 or 6 hour drive away!

Seriously though, I feel bad about the mix-up and I'm glad you're resigned to laughter at this point. Hope the tale of my DD odyssey helped lessen the sting!

It might still end up in Kansas, or Alaska, or it might even be on the pleasure barge with AussieMark's bass (this must be EBMM's version of "Where's Waldo")

Please, by all means, have fun with it... I'm trying to! I've had some good bets with the wife regarding the arrival of the bass (sadly, I'm losing most of them).

You are truly right about the being mad. AND, I am proud to say that I haven't been mad about it. Frustrated, concerned and a bit peevish - yes. Mad - no.

At this point all I can do is joke and wait (and, TK, at this point it IS funny:D )

IF things don't pan tomorrow, I might be on your door step about 7 - so what's for dinner???:D

And, you odyssey is epic- thanks for the insight!

I was thinking it was funny about like a good rap on the funny bone is.

You are taking it well. And you should know better than bet with the wife. :)

UPS and Fedex both have it in for bass players I do believe. :)

A) You are right about betting with the wife ~ but sometimes losing isn't so bad.

B) Considering the UPS guy that delivers to my house is my old singer and guitar player, the basses chances of going to Kansas have increased by 25%

Ritch,

Well, my wife doesn't get home until 10pm or so on Tuesdays, so I'll be cooking. I never know just what, though.. depends on what the kids want!

But I expect you'll get it tomorrow.

If you crack the case and it turns out to be a Dingwall, jump in the car on Wednesday and we'll have steaks and New Castle Brown Ale. :D

The good thing is I think I am the only one in Kansas that would own up to wanting a Bongo. They will drop it here if it gets here. :D

I will say this to the lurkers reading this:
EBMM has nothing to do with this mishap and is OUTSTANDING when it comes to customer service - this is just a dealer/luck issue. I plan on ordering another Bongo (this time a 4HS) as soon as I repay the wife for all the lost bets.

That's nuffin. My bass had a slight hitch. Because of some error in the translation, it wasn't even on the order list and we did not know this until last week:eek:

But you know, we have good dealers here and industrious elves there at the plant. Darg himself assured me that I will get my 4HP.
