Hey all!
First post in this forum... I figured it'd be appropriate to post here since I just got my first EB MM bass! A Bongo 5 HHp!
This bass has already made me happy. I've literally had it home for oh, 5 hours. I've played them in stores and fell in love with this one. $950 later, and here it is! YAY!
So, I can already tell from the tonal options that it ALMOST replaces my Pedulla Thunderbolt 6. The only reason it doesn't - no high C! GAH!
I need to have a low B and high C on a bass. For reference, one song I cover a lot needs the low B, with harmonics on the C and G. No possible on a 5 string :(.
So, anyway. Mostly this is just to say "hey" to the forum here, and give awesome praise to the Bongo I just got.

So, when does the 6 string Bongo come out? :D

hey buddy!!! glad u like the bongo :)

as far as the Bongo 6 goes. well, winter NAMM is a good bet for when they'll be officially orderable. Just a guess, not 100%. there's also a comment that weve heard suggesting possibly a november release. again, thats just a comment and not the "final word".

so sit tight ... theyre comin!

also... i edited the street price out of your post. one of the few "rules" here is that posting dealer (aka street) price is a no-no. full retail (msrp) and used prices are A-OK

congrats, enjoy and welcome to the forum!

Glad you are liking the bass Ray and welcome to the forum. Don't worry used prices are cool, Arin didn't know you bought it from me. Stick around the forum and I guarantee you that you will hear any news about the Bongo 6 here first!

I've been setting aside money for an upright bass but if the Bongo 6 comes out around the time I've got just enough money, then we'll see what's what.

If I'd not already had a 5HH, I would have scooped you on that bass, Ray.

Paul's a great guy to deal with and that's a nice bass!

Welcome.

Excatly how many TBers frequent here? :D geeze!
I've got my Pedulla for sale now. The funds from which will go towards my "Bongo 6 HHp" fund!
I didn't get to bed until about 1AM last night, thanks to the new arrival! I friggin' love this thing. Shhh, don't tell anyone I brought it to work!

Anyway, time to browse the forums :)

Yeah, the second I saw $950 for an HHp I knew it was SmallEQ's. Good luck finding a street price like that! I seriously considered grabbing that one myself. Congrats and welcome to the Bongo club.

I feel mis-lead by SmallEQ's for-sale ad though... he said it has cracks in it, and well, you REALLY REALLY REALLY have to look for them. Like, I ended up taking a flash light and holding it at multiple angles before I could really see them...

I'm going to throw some gasoline on this little campfire.

You can thank me later.

Last night I got to fondle one of the Bongo 6 protos, one we've not seen before:

Now, I'll never buy a 6 partly because the music I play does not require one, but mostly because I've got small hands with sausage fingers:

Most of the 6ers I've picked up have had lumber-like necks...flat across the back and very awkward. Not so the Bongo. I seriously believe, for the first time, that I could actually play one of these despite my size.

GAS on......

Hi everyone.

New here. I searched around a bit in the forums about this just to make sure I wasn't beating a dead horse. I just hate looking like a clueless moron.

Most of the online musical instrument retailers seem to be expecting the Bongo 6 sometime in the near future. One of them says they'll be in stock on 12/12.

theperfectbass.com appears to have a few right now. Does anyone know if they're prototypes or production? On one had it seems a bit far fetched that they'd be selling protos. On the other hand, how would they manage to get production models before just about everyone else?

Thanks.

Different places have had them since April, I think. You've been able to order them since Winter NAMM this past January.

And those are production models. The company keeps some prototypes in the Vault, I think, and we know John Myung has some of the originals with in his arsenal.
