and got me a 30th anniversary....

first impressions:

this feels light as a feather
it's not setup as well as the one I played at NAMM, the action is stiff and higher than I expected. But when i get back, I will fix that;)
The tone is there, i only played it through the amps at the store, but i could tell, the mahogany body does a lot for the sound.

I'm a fan of this bass, it sits perfect with a strap, weighs near nothing and sounds like a freight train.

As far as the case which i expected to be an exemplary piece of case. Not so much.

the latches do not fit properly, and one side of the case doesn't even close all the way, as well there is a cut or obvious seam in the covering that is frayed and not pleasing.

I'm going to pursue a new case obviously. I'll post pics and a full review upon my return from austin.

You got a nice, light piece of mahogany Joel

I've played two at two different GC's . .
One was very light, the other very heavy.
Both really nice basses . .congrats.

You know better. You are testing poppas patience.

If you have a problem with the case and it doesnt shut it was obviously a freight issue. Take it up with your dealer and if that doesnt work contact customer service.

Do you feel good having a bass for months for free? Im sure that Guitar Center HQ would love to hear about it.

Uh-oh. I played one at GC and thought it wasn't that heavy. I ordered one from the Dude (it's on it's way) and hopefully it won't be too heavy. I do think that mahogany body really gives it a nice tone.

my HH Ray and my 30th both kick ass.

ya hit up GC for a new case dude - or make sure to inspect stuff upon purchase. sh** happens ya know... its in a UPS truck for a while, then one warehouse, then another, then on another ups truck off to a GC, then its in the store's warehouse etc. poor thing goes thru a lot and the odds of it getting a lil whack here n there are kinda high

For the record, the EBMM bass survived without a scratch, the case did it's job!

The 30th I played was DOPE! Am I allowed to use that word still?? Oh well, I liked it regardless heheh.

It was funny, I was playing a Streamer Stage II and the GC dude said, here play this! And the 30th blew away everything else I played that day. Insane. Gah, I want a 5 string version!

One of my problems was finding a good dealer; I found one; he let me be there when my new basses arrived from SLO; and he would open the shipping carton in front of me (by appointment of course).

With my second special ordered SR5, one end of the handle broke loose from the case body as soon as it slid from the carton; funky rivet / case manufacturing defect; missed by the good folks in SLO during final packing for shipping.

No brainer; we both had a good laugh, and the dealer swapped cases with another stock SR5 instantly.

Love them good SR5 dealers,
SR5EP

Man did UPS throw the box out a 2nd story window? What brutes. Glad the bass survived.

you should get some of those black/yellow circular stickers they put on crash test dummies. your bass is obviously a survivor.

My Butterdream's case's halves didn't line up perfectly either. I guess I could've harped on Beaver about it but I didn't feel like expending the effort of shipping it back and whatnot. Besides, the bass makes the case!
